The purpose of TextUs is to have the ability to text message inquiries. Sending text messages may enable counselors to reach students quicker than making a phone call or sending an email.

TextUs Account Setup Instructions

  • To setup your TextUs account, click here
  • Enter your GCU email address into the Email field as pictured below
  • Click the Login Button
  • Open Google Chrome

  • Check your GCU email address for an email from TextUs, the email contain a hyperlink
  • Copy and paste the hyperlink into the Google Chrome web browser
  • Once the link has been entered into the web address, the TextUs Dashboard should now be viewable

To receive an email notification when text messages have been received

  1. Click on Edit my Profile
  2. Click on Notifications on the left hand vertical navigation menu
  3. Make sure the toggle switch appears blue
  4. Click Save

 

How to Use TextUs

  • Once logged into TextUs, the Dashboard will appear
  • To access the TextUs Inbox, click the Inbox icon located in the upper left hand corner of the webpage
  • To compose a text message, click on Contacts
  • To Search for an inquiry, click on magnifying glass
  • Enter the Inquiry's name into the Search field and click Enter
  • Click the Checkbox next to the Inquiry's name

     
  • When a text is sent to an inquiry for the first time, a template must be used (see Texting Compliance Presentation on LopeNet)
  • To send a text via template, click on the flag at the bottom of the Compose screen

     
  • To search for email templates for UCs, enter UC into the Search field
  • Select the email template by clicking on it

     
  • Click the Send button to send the text message

     
  • The sent text message will now show in your Inbox
  • Click on a text message from the list of open text messages and all of the messages that have been sent and received may be viewed on the right

     
  • When a reply has been received, the text will appear green with the time received

     
  • To close a text message conversation, click the checkbox and then click the icon next to the compose button

     
  • To view conversations that have been closed, click Closed from the left column navigation menu

     
  • When an inquiry replies to a text message using an Opt-Out keyboard such as 'STOP', 'UNSUBSCRIBE', 'STOPALL', 'QUIT' or 'CANCEL', the TextUs system will prevent further text messages from being sent.
  • When a reply has been received from an inquiry indicating he/she does not want to be contacted again but they do not use a keyboard, counselors should manually unsubscribe the contact from receiving messages
    • Click Open from the left column navigation menu
    • Click on the hamburger menu icon on the far right of the page
    • Click Unsubscribe Number from the drop-down menu
